Appliances for treatment of malocclusion.

Various fixed and removable intraoral and extra oral designs of orthodontic appliances and their various combinations are applied in the treatment of malocclusion. Nevertheless, their further improvement remains a topical issue. Palatal wireframes, wire clasps or arches having different geometric shape and arrangement serve as a support for appliances of combined action, the choice of which ultimately depends on the design of functional details to be fixed thereon.
On the base of wireframe-spring orthodontic appliances four groups of appliances are designed and tested, functional details of which are fixed on:
1) sliding arches;
2) fastening elements for teeth;
3) palatal and lingual supports;
4) their combinations

The basis of the appliance constitutes a palatal support in the form of arc wire clasp FIG1 Mailyan 6.1 or wireframe FIG2 Mayilian 6.2. The support-retaining wireframes of teeth and a vestibular arch with correction units and plates on the lower lip are fixed on the basis through orthodontic springs. The influence of forces of muscles on the palatal support increases its stability and actually creates the conditions for the formation of neutral support for independent and differently directed influences of springs.  It allows to reach an uniform, non-uniform expansion and /or narrowing(constriction) of the upper dentition.
During expansion of upper dentition the vestibular arch is activated that contributes to retrusion of the upper incisors. Vestibular arch with    plates on the lower lip  and contribute to the sagittal shift of the mandible and its growth.
The hollow tubules or lugs are fixed on the palatal trapezium (see, FIG3 Mailyan6.3) or the wireframe (see, FIG4), in which supporting arms of vestibular arch with elliptical springs and the buccal and/or labial plates are movably mounted. If it‘s necessary, the vestibular arch can be provided with an inclined plane. The trapezoidal shape of the palatal wireframe contributes to the better fixing of supporting arms, as their ends are mounted in the lugs with a stress.
